Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Muscat
Arrival in MCT international Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. (No meals)
Hotel: Al Falaj hotel****, Muscat or similar

Day 2: Muscat city tour
Visit the 16th Century forts Jalali and Mirani. Stroll around the old city quarter and have a photo-stop at the official Palace of HM Sultan Qaboos. Visit the museum, Muttrah souq, Grand mosque and the opera house. (B)

Day 3: Wadi Bani Khalid & Wahiba sands
Visit Wadi Bani Khalid. The large natural pools are often a cordial invitation to take a dip. Set off for the adventure of Wahiba Sands, the sandy desert in northern Oman. (B L D)
Camp: Sama Al Wasil Camp, Wahiba

Day 4: Desert Crossing
Cross the Wahiba Sands from north to south. View the fabulous pink salt flats that stretch across horizons at Shanna. Immerse into the turquoise water of Indian Ocean at Khaluf as a successful conclusion of the day. Outdoor camping at Khaluf Beach. (B L D)

Day 5: Coastal Road to Ras Madraka
Drive along the south coast towards Duqm. Arrived at Duqm, visit the stunning Rock garden. Drive to Ras Madraka bay and indulge in the warm turquoise water of the Indian Ocean. Outdoor camping at Ras Madraka. (B L D)

Day 6: Towards Shuwaymiah
On the way to Shuwaymiah view the red lagoon and many stunning views. Arrived in Shuwaymiah we proceed our drive along the Wadi Shuwaymiah. Go on hiking in the Wadi till we reach the natural spring “Ayn Shuwaymiah” (ca. 3km). Outdoor camping in Shuwaymiah (B L D)

Day 7: In to the Empty Quarter
Continue the tour towards desert. Visit the ‘Lost City of Ubar’. Proceed to the Empty Quarter to experience the “biggest sand desert in the World”. A breathtaking sunset awaits you on the top of the dunes. Overnight in camp Hashman. (B L D)

Day 8: Around Rub Al Khali desert
Today you will spend the whole day in the biggest sand desert in the world! Drive to Burkana, where you find water just few meters beneath the sand dunes. Return to the camp. (B L D)

Day 9: Towards Salalah
Start our journey towards Salalah. Drive into Wadi ‘Dawka’ on the way, known as the ‘Frankincense Wadi’. We arrive Salalah in the early afternoon. Check in to the hotel. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)
Hotel: Intercity hotel***, Salalah or similar

Day 10: Around Salalah
Go on a full day safari into the Dhofar Mountains. Highlights are the Taqah Plateau, ancient ruins of Sumharam (Khor Rohri), ever green ‘Wadi Darbat’ and the Jebel Samhan mountain.  This location is commonly known as the ‘Grand Canyon’ of Dhofar. Drive back to Salalah. (B L)

Day 11: Western Dhofar
Drive to Mughsail beach and enjoy the nature. Enjoy the landscapes on a breathtaking mountain road with hairpin bends. Visit the fishing village of Dalkut and its huge Baobab tree, experience the daily life in a remote fishing village of Oman. (B L D)

Day 12: City of Frankincense – Departure
Today we visit the Salalah city for a half day excursion. Visit the museum, lush green plantations of vegetables & fruits, make a Photo stop at the impressive Sultan Qaboos Mosque, view the Official Palace of His Majesty the Sultan (Al Husn Palace) and stroll through the old Haffah souk, famous for the sale of high quality Frankincense & numerous other Dhofari traditional souvenirs. Transfer to the Airport for the flight to Muscat in the afternoon. (B)

  • The total trip will be conducted with trained team with drivers and guides
  • The mode of transport will be by 4×4 Jeeps, which are modern and air-conditioned, fully fit for hard terrains and tracks
  • This is an outdoor overnight camping trip. The participants should be both physically and mentally fit for an adventurous journey. Some part of the route is remote, where you will not even have proper mobile phone connections.
  • The whole journey will be conducted under the supervision of Al Fawaz Team, according to the international safety regulations. A fully equipped team with Satellite phones, GPS, routing maps, support vehicle, camping equipment, first aid kits, meal preparing facilities, bottled water and enough of provisions make your journey more comfortable and safe.
