DAY 1 – Arrival in MCT international Airport

Upon arrival in Muscat international Airport, we bring you to the designated hotel for check in. Relax at hotel. Stay overnight in Muscat. [No Meals]

DAY 2 – Muscat city tour

Start the tour in the morning and drive through the beautiful embassy quarter of Muscat en route to Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Visit the grand mosque, a religious landmark of Muscat and splendor of unique Islamic architecture (Islamic dress code is compulsory). On your way back to the city center you will visit the Opera House and reach the old town. Visit the 16th -Century forts Jalali and Mirani. Stroll around the old city quarter and have a photo-stop at the Qasr Al Alam, the official Palace of HM Sultan Qaboos. Visit Bait Al Zubair Museum with its wealth of information and exhibits on the country’s culture, tradition and heritage. Muttrah souq is one of the most beautiful oriental markets in the Gulf States. Step into the fish market, stroll along the Corniche to admire the beautiful merchant houses and experience the shopping in the busy souk. The largest and oldest bazaar of Oman is traditionally divided into zones for selling a variegated array of shops with souvenirs, antiques, frankincense, gold, textiles, leather goods, jewelry, traditional sabers and many other goods.

DAY 3 – Nizwa – Bahla – Jabreen

Drive to Nizwa in the morning. Nizwa is one of the oldest cities in Oman. The old part of the city can be recognized with its dominant stone castle and the towers of the mosque amidst the vast plantations of date palms. Visit the traditional souq and the Fort of Nizwa. Bahla is famous for its old adobe houses and pottery. The old Bahla Fort with its 12km (seven miles) wall is the oldest fort in Oman. The fort is believed to have been built in pre-Islamic times and is now declared as UNESCO world heritage site after the renovation. The Castle of Jabreen is situated within a short distance of Bahla. Three-storied castle of Jabreen, an impressive example of Islamic architecture with beautiful wooden inscriptions and paintings on the ceilings, is one of the most beautiful stone castles of Oman. Overnight in Nizwa.

DAY 4 – Wadi Bani Khalid – Sur

Continue your journey to one of the most visited Oasis in the region; Wadi Bani Khalid. The large natural pools are often a cordial invitation to take a dip. Proceed to the East coast and drive to Sur. Sur was once famous for its dhows (Traditional ships) and east African trades. Stay overnight in Sur.

DAY 5 – Sur – Back to Muscat – flight to Salalah

A short sight-seeing tour in Sur. Sur is also one of the most historic settlements in the North, formerly a bustling port and trading center whose maritime traditions live on in the intriguing Dhow-building yard, the only surviving one of its kind in Oman.
Drive along the scenic coast towards Muscat. You will have ample opportunities to have photo-stops along the route between coast and the mountains. Pass by at the Bamah Sinkhole Lake Park for a photo stop. Evening flight to Salalah. Arrival in Salalah and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Salalah.

DAY 6 – Salalah East – Rub Al Khali desert – Overnight

Visit the century old ‘Taqah Castle’, the former official residence of the ‘Wali’ (Governor) of the region & obtain a glimpse into the rich history of the region. Continue onto the ancient ruins of the once famous city of Sumharam (Khor Rohri). Khor Rori was an important port on the coast of Dhofar, and one of the major trading cities with frankincense, believed to have been the hub & harbour for the shipping of Frankincense (UNESCO World Heritage site). In the afternoon continue the tour by 4×4 jeeps on graded road crossing the huge gravel desert of ‘Al Nejd’. Arriving the sand desert in Al Hashman, where the sand dunes emerge more picturesque and more spectacular, our experienced driver will drive up the hills in the most thrilling and exciting manner to show you an example of driving with force in the sand popularly known as Dune Bashing. Enjoy a beautiful sunset over the sand dunes before you reach our camp site. Enjoy the dinner and stay overnight in the desert camp.

DAY 7 – Ubar – Wadi Dawka – Salalah City

After the breakfast, served at the camp on the next day, proceed to the ‘Lost City of Ubar’ (UNESCO World heritage site). This once buried city, which was spotted by satellite, gives you a glimpse of the value of work carried out by a team of explorers in 1982, led by Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Visit Wadi Dawka on the way back to Salalah, where the frankincense trees grow in their natural habitat. Once arrived in Salalah check in to the hotel and time for refreshment. In the afternoon a brief city tour in Salalah. Proceed to visit “The Museum of the Frankincense Land”. Drive through lush green plantations of vegetables & fruits. Make a brief stop to taste a fresh coconut water drink at fruit stalls (at own cost) lining the streets within the periphery of the old Salalah town (Haffah). Make a Photo stop at the impressive Sultan Qaboos Mosque. View the Official Palace of His Majesty the Sultan (Al Husn Palace) & stroll through the old Haffah souk, famous for the sale of high quality Frankincense & numerous other Dhofari traditional souvenirs. Check in to the hotel and overnight in Salalah.

DAY 8 – Wadi Derbat – Sinkhole – Jebel Samhan

Start the tour in the morning by 4X4 vehicles, on a full day safari into the Dhofar Mountains. Drive through the scenic village of Taqa making a photo stop at the village for a panoramic view from above a cliff, well known as Taqah Plateau. Then drive into the ‘ever green Wadi Darbat’ for a relaxing stroll along the Wadi bed, surrounded by herds of Camels, Goats & Cattle. Next stop is one of the world’s largest Sink Holes (211 m deep & 150 m in diameter), situated at Tawi Attair – also known as the “Well of Birds”, who frequent this location, the year through. Continue journey into the mountain range of Jebel Samhan to a breathtaking plateau at a height of almost 1700m. This location is commonly known as the ‘Grand Canyon’ of Dhofar, gives one a complete view of the east coast to the one side & the vast ‘Qara’ mountain range to the other. Continue the journey after a sumptuous picnic lunch from the plateau into the adjacent ‘Qara’ mountain range & drive through scenic Jebali villages & landscape, with numerous photo stops at interesting locations. Drive back to Salalah and overnight.

DAY 9 – Job’s tomb – Mughsail beach

Visit the ancient tomb of ‘Prophet Job’ situated in the scenic green mountains of the Salalah Plains. Experience the legendary story of Prophet Job and his devoutness. Proceed to the beach of Mughsail where the white sand touches the deep blue of the ocean & at high tide, where waves burst through the natural titanic ‘Blow Holes’, at the far end of the ‘Rocky beach’ with a cave-like entrance. We thereafter continue along the ‘Hair-pin-bend’ road towards western side of Oman to grasp some photogenic scenes. Drive back to Salalah. Afternoon at Leisure.

DAY 10 – Departure

Say goodbye to Oman and departure transfer to the airport. Conditions apply.
