DAY 1 – Arrival in Muscat

Arrival in MCT international Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure.

DAY 2 – Muscat city tour

Visit the 16th Century forts Jalali and Mirani. Stroll around the old city quarter and have a photo-stop at the official Palace of HM Sultan Qaboos. Visit the museum, Muttrah souq, Grand mosque and the opera house.

DAY 3 – Wadi Bani Khalid & Wahiba sands

In the morning start the tour to one of the most visited Oasis in the region; Wadi Bani Khalid. The large natural pools are often a cordial invitation to take a dip. Set off for the adventure of Wahiba Sands, the sandy desert in northern Oman.

DAY 4 – Desert Crossing

Start the journey towards south from the Camp at Wahiba sands. Cross the Wahiba Sands from north to south. After a journey of ca. 180km, we come to the end of our desert crossing near Mahut. It is your gateway to the fabulous pink salt flats the stretch across horizons. Khaluf village is a remote hamlet where one can get a rare opportunity to see Omani fishermen’s lifestyle. Immerse into the turquoise water of Indian Ocean as a successful conclusion of the day. Outdoor camping at Khaluf Beach.

DAY 5 – Coastal Road to Ras Madraka

Drive along the south coast towards Duqm. Along the way, you will witness stunning views, beautiful Wadis and landscapes. Arrived at Duqm, visit the stunning Rock garden. Drive to Ras Madraka bay and indulge in the warm turquoise water of the Indian Ocean. Outdoor camping at Ras Madraka.

DAY 6 – Towards Shuwaymiah

Drive Al Jazir on the way and make a short detour to the beach side to watch some interesting landscapes. The place is called red lagoon, a small isolated lagoon with reddish colored water, peppered with the bones of whales and rich of birds. Arrived in Shuwaymiah we proceed our drive along the Wadi Shuwaymiah. It is time to go on hiking in the Wadi till we reach the natural spring “Ayn Shuwaymiah” (ca. 3km). Outdoor camping in Shuwaymiah

DAY 7 – In to the Empty Quarter

Today continue the tour towards desert. Visit the ‘Lost City of Ubar’. After walking around the site, proceed to the Empty Quarter to experience the “biggest sand desert in the World” by rambling on fascinating sand dunes. A breathtaking overview of the vast desert awaits you on the top of the dunes. We arrive our camping site at Al Khadaf on time for the sunset. Overnight in Desert Camp.

DAY 8 – Around Rub Al Khali desert

Today you will spend the whole day in the biggest sand desert in the world! The desert is encompassing most of the southern third of the Arabian Peninsula, including Saudi Arabia and areas of Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. Drive to Burkana, where you find water just few meters beneath the sand dunes. Return to the camp.

DAY 9 – Towards Salalah

Start our journey towards Salalah. Drive into Wadi ‘Dawka’ on the way, known as the ‘Frankincense Wadi’. We arrive Salalah in the early afternoon. Check in to the hotel. The afternoon is at leisure. Time to relax and enjoy the facilities at your hotel.

DAY 10 – Around Salalah

Go on a full day safari into the Dhofar Mountains. Highlights are the Taqah Plateau, ancient ruins of the once famous city of Sumharam (Khor Rohri), ever green ‘Wadi Darbat’ and the Jebel Samhan mountain at a height of almost 1700m. This location is commonly known as the ‘Grand Canyon’ of Dhofar. Drive back to Salalah.

DAY 11 – Western Dhofar

Drive to Mughsail beach and enjoy the nature. Enjoy the landscapes on a breathtaking mountain road via hairpin bends and you reach the highest plateau of Jebel al Qamar with fantastic views of the coast and the sea. Visit the fishing village of Dalkut and its huge Baobab tree, experience the daily life in a remote fishing village of Oman.

DAY 12 – City of Frankincense – Departure

Today we visit the Salalah city for a half day excursion. Visit the museum, lush green plantations of vegetables & fruits, make a Photo stop at the impressive Sultan Qaboos Mosque, view the Official Palace of His Majesty the Sultan (Al Husn Palace) and stroll through the old Haffah souk, famous for the sale of high quality Frankincense & numerous other Dhofari traditional souvenirs. Transfer to the Airport for the flight to Muscat in the afternoon.

Please Note: The total trip will be conducted with trained team with drivers and guides • We will provide you all the necessary camping gear for outdoor camping, so no need to stuff extra luggage with camping equipment • The whole journey will be conducted under the supervision of Al Fawaz Team, according to the international safety regulations. A fully equipped team with Satellite phones, GPS, routing maps, support vehicle, camping equipment, first aid kits, meal preparing facilities, bottled water and enough of provisions make your journey more comfortable and safe. • Please pay attention to the local customs of taking photographs • No photography/filming allowed at Museums. Your guide will advise you the particulars • Grand Mosque in Muscat and in Salalah are only opened for visitors from Saturday to Thursday from 8:00 – 11:00 am • This tour involves walking over rough and inclined ground • Maximum number of Pax in a 4×4 vehicle should be 4, due to the safety regulations • This is an outdoor overnight camping trip. The participants should be both physically and mentally fit for an adventurous journey. Some part of the route is remote, where you will not even have proper mobile phone connections • This jeep tour may not suitable for those with injuries or conditions, which may be affected by the bumpy rides. Pregnant women and children under 6 may not participate
